How personal data are handled when you use this scientific portfolio or send a professional enquiry through the contact form.
This website is a personal scientific portfolio operated by Ronald Saraswat. Personal data are collected only where necessary to operate the site, respond to enquiries and provide the requested portfolio content.
Contact-form data
When you use the contact form, the following information may be collected:
- name;
- email address;
- organisation or institution, if you choose to provide it;
- subject and message content; and
- technical information required to submit and protect the form from abuse.
Name, email address, subject and message are required to submit the form. Organisation or institution is optional.
Please do not submit special-category or highly sensitive personal data through the contact form unless it is genuinely necessary for your enquiry.
Purpose and legal basis
Contact-form data are used only to receive, assess and respond to scientific, professional, collaboration, recruitment, outreach or related enquiries.
The legal basis is the legitimate interest in receiving and responding to professional communications and maintaining necessary correspondence relating to those enquiries (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Retention
Contact enquiries and related correspondence are normally retained for up to 12 months after the last meaningful correspondence. They may be retained for longer where reasonably necessary for an ongoing professional relationship, recruitment process, collaboration, legal claim or legal obligation.
Hosting and technical data
This portfolio is hosted using GitHub Pages. GitHub states that when a GitHub Pages site is visited, the visitor's IP address is logged and stored for security purposes.
I do not currently run my own advertising trackers or visitor-analytics service on this portfolio.
External links and media previews
The portfolio contains links to external scientific, institutional and social platforms. The External Mentions page also displays a limited number of media thumbnails supplied from external source servers. When your browser requests externally hosted content, the relevant provider may receive ordinary technical request information such as your IP address, browser information and request time.
Once you follow an external link, the destination site's own privacy terms apply.
International processing
Some service providers used to operate this website may process personal data outside the European Economic Area. Where applicable, such transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards under applicable data-protection law.
Your data-protection rights
You may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal data, restrict or object to its processing, subject to applicable data-protection law. To exercise these rights or ask a privacy question, please use the website contact form. You may also lodge a complaint with the French data-protection authority, the CNIL.
